February 2, 2012 by gunapriya_ifb

Government has stopped to release weekly primary and Food Inflation data based on Whole sale price index, citing reasons the data is not giving clear and holistic picture of the price.

However, the monthly data for headline Inflation will be continued to release. The monthly headline inflation data for January will be released on February 14, 2012.

Besides power and fuel inflation data, Government has decided to add Retail Inflation data, which is based on the all-India Consumer price index. The first Consumer Price Index Inflation will be released on February 21, 2012 for the month of January of the current year.

The changes were made by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the prime minister, Manmohan singh.
